This study aims to describe the implementation of the Industrial Work Practice (Prakerin)
program undertaken by students of SMK Negeri 1 Gianyar at the General Affairs Division of
the Regional Secretariat (Setda) of Gianyar Regency, as well as to analyze its relevance to
office administration competencies and Hindu ethical values. The six-month internship serves
as a vocational learning model that integrates school-based theory with real work experience.
This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through observation,
interviews, and document analysis. The results reveal that Setda Gianyar functions as a central
administrative and coordinative institution within regional governance, providing students with
opportunities to practice administrative skills such as correspondence management, archiving,
bureaucratic communication, and interdepartmental coordination. The historical development
of Gianyar is shown to be closely linked to traditional Balinese governance and the
philosophical concept of Tri Hita Karana, which emphasizes harmony between humans, nature,
and the divine. In addition, the linear organizational structure of Setda reflects the principles
of Dharma Negara, Nīti Śāstra, and tattwa rājya, which highlight ethical leadership, clear
hierarchical structures, and proper distribution of authority. Hindu values such as Tri Kaya
Parisudha, Tat Twam Asi, and Tri Hita Karana are embedded in the internship experience and
contribute significantly to shaping students’ professionalism, particularly in discipline, work
ethics, responsibility, and interpersonal relations. Overall, the internship enhances students’
technical and non-technical competencies while fostering moral and spiritual awareness
aligned with Balinese work culture. Therefore, the Prakerin program at Setda Gianyar provides
comprehensive support for developing competent, ethical, and character-driven future
professionals
