PENERAPAN MODEL DEEP LEARNING PADA MATA PELAJARAN PENDIDIKAN AGAMA HINDU DAN BUDI PEKERTI KELAS XII DI SMA NEGERI 2 BANGLI

Abstract

Strengthening students’ character has become a crucial issue in education in the era of globalization, marked by the increasing prevalence of moral problems such as low levels of honesty, discipline, and spiritual awareness. Hindu Religious Education and Character Education play a strategic role in shaping these values; however, the learning process is still often dominated by conventional methods that lack depth. Therefore, the implementation of the deep learning model is considered an alternative approach that can foster reflective and contextual understanding of values. This study aims to describe the implementation of the deep learning model, identify the challenges faced by teachers along with the efforts made to overcome them, and analyze its impact on strengthening the character of twelfth-grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Bangli. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, using observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The data were analyzed using an interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of deep learning is carried out through case analysis, value-based discussions, self-reflection, and connecting learning materials to real-life contexts. The challenges encountered include limited time, differences in students’ abilities, and suboptimal student engagement, which are addressed through strengthening teaching strategies and providing motivation. The implementation of this model has a positive impact on strengthening students’ character, particularly in enhancing honesty (Satya), discipline and responsibility (Dama), and spiritual awareness in daily life.
