Abstrak

Mahatma Gandhi responded to the phenomenon of Indian society with the ahimsa movement.
With his teachings, he offers a comprehensive solution to human awareness to know himself
better, because according to him, ahimsa includes tolerance, patience, humility and love of
truth. These characteristics are said to bring people to know themselves better and how they
should act. This study aims to explore the concept of ahimsa offered by Mahatma Gandhi and
the implications of ahimsa for the struggle for India's independence. Related as a secondary
data source. While the method used is a descriptive analytical approach that seeks to explain
Gandhi's thoughts clearly, accurately and systematically. The results of this study obtained
several answers that first, Mahatma Gandhi's concept of ahimsa requires everyone not to harm
any creature, either with words, thoughts, words and actions even for the benefit of humans.
