Sangkepan Bayi is a tradition still practiced by the people of Selulung Traditional Village, Kintamani District, Bangli Regency. This tradition incorporates various signs and symbols passed down through generations and carries meanings based on the community's belief systems and culture. This study aims to analyze the meanings of denotation, connotation, and myth, as well as the function of symbolic communication in the Sangkepan Bayi tradition. This study used a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods. Data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature review. Data analysis was conducted using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. The results show that the meaning of denotation describes the form and function of symbols as observed in the implementation of the tradition. The meaning of connotation reveals the cultural values conveyed through ritual symbols, including the infant's readiness to enter traditional life, the relationship between humans and the spiritual environment, respect for ancestors, and the infant's confirmation as a member of the Selulung Traditional Village community. The meaning of myth indicates that beliefs regarding ila-ila, katandruhin, and the gift of malang penyesah have undergone a process of naturalization and are accepted as an integral part of community life. The tradition also conveys moral messages in the form of parental responsibility in fulfilling customary obligations, respect for ancestors, and the transmission of cultural values. Symbolic communication in the Sangkepan Bayi tradition functions to convey spiritual values, legitimize social status, and sustain the tradition through the intergenerational transmission of meanings and beliefs
