This study examines non-violent humanistic communication in the book Mahatma Gandhi: The Conqueror of Violence by Stanley Wolpert. The analysis is grounded in the increasing phenomenon of symbolic violence, hate speech, and the crisis of ethical communication in modern society, which calls for a more humanistic communication paradigm. This research aims to analyze the philosophical foundations, forms, and implications of non-violent humanistic communication in the thought of Mahatma Gandhi as represented in the biographical text. The method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data were obtained from the main book as well as supporting sources relevant to Gandhi's thoughts; subsequently, data were collected through literature review. The theory used for the first research question is the hermeneutic theory by Wilhelm Dilthey, while Carl Rogers' humanist communication theory is applied to analyze the second and third research questions. Data analysis utilizes the analysis model by Miles and Huberman, which consists of data collection, data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the philosophical foundation of Gandhi’s humanistic communication is rooted in the concepts of truth (satya) and non-violence (ahimsa), which are integrated within ontological, epistemological, and axiological dimensions. Communication is understood not merely as a process of message transmission, but as a means of moral and spiritual transformation. The form of Gandhi’s humanistic communication is reflected in ethical dialogue, empathy, simplicity of language, and the satyagraha strategy, which emphasizes the power of truth without violence. This form of communication is also oriented toward respect for human dignity and social equality. The implications of this study indicate that non-violent humanistic communication have relevance to communication ethics, socio-political life, and global peace. In communication ethics, it encourages the use of honest, empathetic, and violence-free language. In socio-political contexts, it strengthens tolerance, inclusivity, and social cohesion. Meanwhile, in the context of peace, non-violent communication serves as a fundamental foundation for building harmony and peaceful conflict resolution. Thus, Gandhi’s thought makes a significant contribution to the development of a humanistic communication paradigm that is relevant for addressing the increasingly complex and conflict-ridden challenges of modern communication.
