Batu Bolong Temple in Lombok, as a spiritual and cultural site, holds significant historical value related to Dang Hyang Nirartha's journey in spreading Hindu teachings. However, the lack of historical information at the site causes visitors to simply enjoy the natural beauty without understanding its spiritual significance. This study aims to design an illustrated history book of Batu Bolong Temple using the Design Thinking method and a descriptive qualitative approach, combining digital painting techniques and visual narratives. The main findings of this study indicate that the use of visual narrative-based illustrated books can effectively convey historical and spiritual values in a more engaging and easily understood manner, particularly for younger audiences. The integration of semi-realistic illustration styles and structured storytelling enhances audience comprehension and emotional engagement with the historical content. The academic contribution of this research lies in the development of a visual communication design model that integrates Design Thinking with cultural heritage storytelling, specifically in the context of Hindu sacred sites in Lombok. This study also contributes to the limited body of research on illustrated media as an educational tool for local religious history, particularly regarding the early history of Batu Bolong Temple. This book is expected to educate the public, increase appreciation for Batu Bolong Temple, and reintroduce its importance as a revered local cultural heritage.
