KULKUL SEBAGAI MEDIA KOMUNIKASI TRADISIONAL PADA TRADISI NGEREBEG MEKOTEK DI DESA ADAT MUNGGU KECAMATAN MENGWI KABUPATEN BADUNG

The Hindu community in Bali cannot separate themselves from the existence of rituals traditions, customs and culture. In this regard, some western researchers make Bali as the object of study. On that basis, making Bali a worthy center of study in exploration as a center of religious civilization, traditions and culture that still exist. Related to this explains the traditional Balinese community as a closed and self-sufficient public in the traditional Balinese community. In his life humans tend to establish relationships between each other which ultimately form social organizations. The aim of this research is to find out and analyze the in Munggu Traditional Village, Mengwi District, Badung Still Regency Defending Kulkul as a Traditional Communication Media. Types of research qualitative descriptive. Methods of data collection, observation, interviews, documentation and literature study. Research using theory. Theory Traditional Communication, Theory of Cultural Dynamics, Technological Determinism theory. The results of this study indicate that in general, kulkul in traditional villages Munggu is a traditional communication medium in a society where the role of implementation is carried out by the head of banjar or bendesa or the leadership customary organizations, both in merajan dadia, temple, banjar, and sekaa-sekaa for convey a message. Kulkul is owned by a group of community organizations which has one direction and purpose. Munggu Traditional village has four types kulkul, namely: kulkul pakraman village (Kulkul Pura Puseh), Kulkul Pura Dalem, kulkul in each banjar, and kulkul belonging to each sekaa (community). in the era globalization, people in Munggu Traditional Village also use social media in conveying information to the public such as through WhatsApp, media Group, but Kulkul's voice remains the Traditional Communication Media. The peoples in Munggu traditional village really understand every meaning of Kulkul's sound, moreover, the meaning of each rhythm and sound of Kulkul has already been written down in Awig-Awig Munggu traditional village
