Penggunaan Palakiwa Dalam Upacara Ngaben Di Desa Adat Kulub Kecamatan Tampaksiring Kabupaten Gianyar

Abstrak

As an expression of devotion and reverence to the greatness of God, the community of Kulub Traditional Village, Tampaksiring District, Gianyar Regency, performs the Pitra Yadnya ceremony, within which there is a complementary ritual component known as Palakiwa. This ritual is believed to be a manifestation of devotion and sacred sacrifice dedicated to the ancestors, enabling descendants (pratisentana) to attain happiness and fulfill their obligations to their forebears. Based on the phenomenon observed in the implementation of the Pitra Yadnya ceremony, it is important to conduct a study entitled “The Use of Palakiwa in the Ngaben Ceremony in Kulub Traditional Village, Tampaksiring District, Gianyar Regency (A Philosophical Study).” This study addresses three main research questions: (1) How is Palakiwa used in the Ngaben ceremony in Kulub Traditional Village, Tampaksiring District, Gianyar Regency? (2) What are the functions of Palakiwa in the Ngaben ceremony in Kulub Traditional Village, Tampaksiring District, Gianyar Regency? (3) What symbols are embodied in the use of Palakiwa during the Ngaben ceremony in Kulub Traditional Village, Tampaksiring District, Gianyar Regency? The objectives of this study are to examine the process of using Palakiwa, to identify its functions, and to explore the symbolic meanings embedded in its implementation
