This research explores the phenomenon of using online media in carrying out traditional Balinese Hindu ceremonial processions, as part of cultural tourism and its impact on religious authorities. Using a qualitative approach, this research analyzes how digitalization enables global access to sacred rituals and how these changes influence the perceptions of local communities, tourists and religious leaders. The findings reveal that the use of technology, especially online media, can increase the visibility of Balinese culture internationally, but also raises challenges related to the commodification of rituals and shifts in religious authority. Apart from that, there is starting to be a debate about the legality of online processions, this needs to be of special concern to policy-making authorities, especially in Hinduism. Several policy proposals were presented in this research. It is hoped that this study will be able to contribute to the discourse on the role of technology in the transformation of religious practices and cultural tourism, which has implications for cultural preservation policies and spirituality-based tourism management.
2025-03-31T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 I Gede Wahyu Sanjaya, I Gusti Ngurah Pertu Agung https://ojs.uhnsugriwa.ac.id/index.php/ride/article/view/4666 MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS FOR WEAVING AS A COMMUNITY-BASED CULTURAL TOURISM DESTINATION (CASE STUDY OF THE SARI BHAKTI WEAVING GROUP BANJAR PESALAKAN, PEJENG KANGIN VILLAGE) 2025-02-04T22:48:21+08:00 Made Ika Kusuma Dewi dewiikakusuma@gmail.com Anggara Putu Dharma Putra ankgafdd@uhnsugriwa.ac.id
Marketing communications for Cagcag weaving, Banjar Pesalakan, can develop into a community-based cultural tourism village. To keep cagcag weaving relevant in the global tourism market, an effective marketing communication strategy is needed. A local community-based approach is the key to creating an authentic and sustainable strategy. This article will discuss how marketing communications for cagcag weaving based on the local community of Pesalakan Banjar Pejeng Kangin Village can strengthen product identity and improve the economic welfare of local communities based on cultural tourism villages. Local community-based cagcag weaving marketing communication is an approach that utilizes the knowledge, skills and uniqueness of local communities to market cagcag weaving products. This approach aims to highlight the authenticity and cultural richness contained in cagcag woven products, especially the gegambir motif, while providing direct economic and tourism benefits to craftsmen and tourists. Cagcag weaving in Banjar Pesalakan, Pejeng Kangin village is a Bhakti sari weaving group. Cagcag weaving in Banjar Pesalakan has characteristics that are different from weaving in general, namely gegambir weaving. Gegambir weaving is a traditional weaving typical of the people of Banjar Pesalakan and can only be found and produced by the Sari Bhakti weaving group originating from Banjar Pesalakan. Gegambir weaving has a cloth width of approximately 20 to 45 cm (maximum 60 cm) and a cloth length of 2 meters. Generally, gegambir weaving is only used as a means of complementing ceremonial clothing, such as being used as a shawl, udeng, and gegambir woven cloth is also used for religious activities, teeth cutting ceremonies or often called mepandes, along with the development of fashion, the development of globalization of tourism and market demand for gegambir weaving which has now changed its function to interior designs such as tablecloths, wall hangings and room decorations as desired. This research is a qualitative perspective. In this qualitative approach, the emphasis is on the depth (quality) of data, not the amount (quantity) of data. The method used is the observation method, case study method and literature method, where in this observation method the researcher directly observes the object under study, namely the cagcag weaving of the Bhakti sari weaving group found in Banjar Pesalakan, Pejeng Kangin village.
2025-03-31T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Made Ika Kusuma Dewi, Anggara Putu Dharma Putra https://ojs.uhnsugriwa.ac.id/index.php/ride/article/view/4241 ANALYSIS OF THE PENTAHELIX MODEL AND ITS IMPLICATIONS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM IN GOA GIRI PUTRI TEMPLE, NUSA PENIDA 2025-03-07T00:58:44+08:00 Ni Putu Sri Sujeni Setiawati srisujeni83@gmail.com Ni Made Dwipayanti dewidwipayanti83@gmail.com
This research aims to identify and analyze key actors in the implementation of sustainable tourism at Goa Giri Putri Temple, Nusa Penida. Pangsan Tourism Village is one of the promising tourist destinations in North Badung, but it needs better and more effective management. This research examines the potential of Pangsan Tourism Village as a Tri Hita Karana-based tourist destination, its management efforts, and the obstacles that still exist. This research uses qualitative research methods with descriptive analysis techniques. The research results show that Pangsan Tourism Village has a variety of natural, cultural and artificial potential. Pangsan Tourism Village management efforts have been quite good in providing facilities and access, but deficiencies are still found in supporting facilities and additional services. The obstacles found were less than optimal planning and design of tourism packages, low community involvement, and a lack of understanding of the Pangsan Tourism Village management. Therefore, Pangsan Tourism Village needs to improve supporting facilities, partner with travel agents, and provide further assistance to optimize management.
2025-03-31T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Ni Ketut Suardani https://ojs.uhnsugriwa.ac.id/index.php/ride/article/view/3890 STUDY ON THE MANAGEMENT OF THE SACRED AREA OF TARO VILLAGE AS EDUCATIONAL TOURISM 2025-03-21T03:39:09+08:00 Anak Agung Gede Rai Astawa gungderai45@gmail.com
This study explores the multifaceted challenges and impacts of tourism management in Taro Village, Bali, with a specific focus on sacred areas such as Gunung Raung Temple and the Lembu Putih Conservation Park. One of the primary challenges identified is the lack of financial incentives for the Pokdarwis (Tourism Awareness Group) administrators and field officers, which affects their motivation and service delivery. Despite these limitations, the village has established a distinctive revenue model—where Gunung Raung Temple operates on a donation basis, and the Lembu Putih Conservation Park charges admission, with profits reinvested in community development. The sacred areas play a significant role in promoting educational tourism, offering visitors insights into Balinese spiritual traditions and environmental conservation. Traditional ceremonies such as Tegenan, Mepada Agung, and Nyenuk are central to Taro’s cultural identity and spiritual appeal. The study also evaluates the positive and negative impacts of tourism using various theoretical frameworks, including economic, sociocultural, environmental, and ethical tourism. While minor drawbacks exist, the predominant outcomes are positive, including improved environmental management, increased local employment, and strengthened cultural preservation. The findings underscore the importance of community involvement and sustainable tourism practices, aligned with the principles of Community-Based Tourism (CBT), to ensure long-term benefits for both the village and its sacred heritage.
2025-04-28T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Anak Agung Gede Rai Astawa
