Floods are a frequent natural disaster in Indonesia and cause significant losses due to the limitations of manual monitoring systems. This study aims to analyze the development of Internet of Things (IoT)-based flood detection systems using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with the PICOC approach. The research process involved identifying, selecting, and evaluating relevant literature to obtain a comprehensive overview of the technology, methods, and system effectiveness.
The results show that most systems utilize ultrasonic sensors and microcontrollers such as Arduino, ESP8266, and ESP32 for real-time water level monitoring. Integration with IoT platforms such as ThingSpeak, Firebase, and Telegram allows for rapid data delivery and notifications to users. Several studies have also developed systems with multi-parameters, LoRa communication, and dual sensors to improve accuracy.
However, these systems still face limitations such as reliance on the internet, communication limitations, and environmental impacts on sensors. Therefore, the development of systems that integrate technology and community preparedness is necessary for more effective flood mitigation.
