Abstract
Lunar eclipse is a phenomenon where the cross-section of the moon is covered by the earth's shadow. This event occurs because the earth's position is between the sun and the moon. The position of the earth being parallel in the same straight line will cause sunlight to not reach the moon. Sunlight cannot reach the moon because it is blocked by the earth, causing all aspects of the earth to appear completely dark. The Hindu view of the holy day of Siwaratri in astronomical concepts actually has a correlation with the event of a lunar eclipse. This correlation can be studied through various Hindu literature sources in the form of holy books, mythology, and scientific sources about lunar eclipses. Apart from that, the dark night of Siwaratri which falls on Purwanining Tilem Kapitu is the darkest night in the universe; so it has a relevant correlation with lunar eclipses. The aim of this research is to provide an understanding of the relationship between Shivaratri night and lunar eclipses from a Hindu astronomical perspective. The research method used in this article is to use the library method, namely reading various journals and books, collecting literature and storing it in other information sources in the library to obtain a good and correct understanding of the correlation between Siwaratri night and lunar eclipses as viewed from the perspective of Hindu astronomy.
