Abstract

Older adults (elderly individuals) are people aged ≥60 years who undergo physiological, psychological, and social aging processes. Aging is associated with a decline in physical condition due to the body's degenerative processes, which can lead to reduced functional mobility. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be implemented is yoga. Ashram Narayiana is a yoga training center that combines gentle physical movements, breathing techniques, and laughter activities. This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design and was conducted at Ashram Narayiana in Sukawati, Gianyar, in March 2026. The study sample consisted of 39 older adults who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Participants were selected using a total sampling method. Data on yoga practice frequency were obtained from attendance records, while functional mobility was assessed using the Timed Up and Go Test (TUG). The results showed a significant relationship between yoga practice frequency and functional mobility among older adults, with a correlation coefficient of r = -0.831 and a significance value of p < 0.001. Based on these findings, the more regularly older adults engage in yoga practice, the better their functional mobility. These findings suggest that regular yoga practice can be recommended as a non-pharmacological intervention to enhance independence and improve the quality of life of older adults.
