Atatayi, Relationship with Tri Kaya Parisudha, Challenges in the Modern EraAbstract
Sad Atatayi is a concept in Hinduism that describes six destructive actions that are considered to violate the principles of dharma, namely murder (Agnida), poisoning (Wisada), practicing black magic (Atharwa), going berserk to the point of threatening others (Sastraghna), rape (Dratikrama), and slandering (Raja Pisuna). In the Balinese Hindu tradition, this concept is not only an ethical guide, but also a foundation for maintaining social and spiritual harmony. This study aims to explore the moral approach to Tri Kayaparisudha through local values embedded in the lives of the Balinese people. The results show that the moral approach in the Balinese Hindu tradition to Sad Atatayi focuses on prevention through dharma education, carrying out traditional rituals, and strengthening spiritual values in the family. The Balinese people view Sad Atatayi as a threat to the harmony of the universe sekala-niskala (the real and spiritual worlds), so that customary law enforcement is needed that is in line with the teachings of Hinduism. In addition, local wisdom values such as Tri Hita Karana are used to build awareness of the importance of harmonious relationships between humans, nature, and God. This study confirms that the Balinese Hindu tradition makes a significant contribution to internalizing moral values as a solution to ethical challenges in the modern era.
