Abstract

Itihāsa is one part of the breadth of Vedic knowledge, which must be learned in the early stages of Vedic learning. Speaking further about the Itihāsa, the Itihāsa consists of two great epics namely the Ramāyāna and the Mahābhārata. So that the initial knowledge that one can learn when studying the Itihāsa is the book of the Ramāyāna. The Book of the Ramāyāna itself is generally composed of 7 sections known as the Sapta Kānda. Then in the conflicted section there are two parts of Kānda known as Sundara Kānda and Yudha Kānda, which are the core of the story of the Ramāyāna itself and are believed to contain many ethical and moral values in it. Reflecting on this, this study is interested in studying more deeply about the stories of Sundara Kānda and Yudha Kānda Ramāyāna, to find the ethical and moral values contained in the Hindu religious perspective. In this study, several problems were also formulated, namely related to the nature of ethical and moral values, the stories of Sundara Kānda and Yudha Kānda Ramāyāna, and the ethical and moral values contained therein. By using research methods with qualitative research types, and literature studies and using data analysis from Miles and Huberman. The results of this study indicate that the stories of Sundara Kānda and Yudha Kānda Ramāyāna contain so many ethical and moral values that are useful for life. It is hoped that this research can be an initial provision for someone who is just learning the Vedas, then he can become a better person through the ethical and moral values he has acquired.
