Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the teacher's role in developing the learning motivation of elementary school students, especially developing learning motivation through the teachings of karma yoga in the Bhagavadgita scripture. Especially the slokas that can be used as teaching materials to increase student learning motivation. This study uses the literature study method, by conducting studies based on available references or literature, such as books, especially from articles published in various scientific journals. The results of this study show that motivation plays an important role in the student learning process, especially in an effort to improve learning efforts. The teacher's role in building students' awareness to learn is certainly part of the extrinsic motivation, which is carried out through the delivery of the teachings of karma yoga which are contained in a number of slokas in the sacred Bhagavadgita. The teachings of karma yoga explore the awareness of carrying out obligations, in this case the obligation as a student is to learn. So a student must understand the task that must be carried out while still studying is learning. This kind of awareness is certainly important for students who are still in elementary school. Because if since elementary school they already have intrinsic motivation to learn, because they realize that learning is an obligatory task, of course for the next level of formal education students will be able to learn better.
