Abstract

The implementation of Hindu yajña ceremonies in Bali is inseparable from sacred religious dances. Balinese dance is mostly used in religious ceremonies, but some profane dances are performed simply as entertainment at certain events. The unique and sacred rejang sedan dance is not found outside the Badeg Kelodan Traditional Village, Selat District, Karangasem Regency. The purpose of this study was to identify and describe the procession, function, and value of Hindu religious education in the rejang sedan dance performance during the usabha kapat ceremony at the Puseh Temple in Badeg Kelodan Traditional Village. Data collection used observation, interviews, and document study techniques. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques with three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the rejang sedan dance performance procession during the usabha kapat ceremony at the Puseh Temple in Badeg Kelodan Traditional Village consists of three stages: preparation, the main stage, and the final stage. The functions of the rejang sedan dance performance during the usabha kapat ceremony at the Puseh Temple in Badeg Kelodan Traditional Village include: (1) social integration, (2) sacred art, (3) complementary ceremony, (4) cultural preservation, and (5) religious function. The Hindu religious education values ​​in the rejang sedan dance performance during the usabha kapat ceremony at the Puseh Temple in Badeg Kelodan Traditional Village include: tattwa (morality), susta (morality), ceremonial, and aesthetic values. The implications of this research are the preservation of sacred art and the development of other Balinese dance arts.
